Blue Dragon Adventure is one of the oldest adventure companies in Darjeeling and Sikkim, established in 2003. Officially commencing in Newcastle, Australian by Mr. Justin Bergholcs, who had lived and worked in Darjeeling for many years prior, and his adopted son Dawa

Gyalpo Sherpa. They formally commenced the Indian side of Blue Dragon shortly after.

Dawa continues to grow the company and has taken it to next level. This year Blue Dragon Adventure and Travel has been formally recognized by the Ministry of Tourism, and the Government of India with their ‘Incredible India’ status. Blue Dragon Adventure and Travel is the only adventure company recognized in the Darjeeling area.

Dawa Sherpa, is Mountaineering Instructor, Rock climber, and Mountain Biker, among other passions.  His love and respect for the mountains are always reflected in all the itineraries of the business. Looking for new activities and areas for the adventure enthusiast.

This Blue Dragon Special Package; is a reflection of this passion. Offering adventure, culture, and fun. Over five (5) days of adventure-packed activities, in Darjeeling and the surrounding area.

Itinerary

Day 1

Receive the group from Bagdogra airport and drive to Darjeeling via Mirik.

Overnight at Blue Dragon Homestay situated in the foothills of Tiger Hill, at the altitude of 2300m above sea level.

Guests are welcomed with a traditional cup of Sherpa tea and Khada (silk blessing scarf). All the rooms are simply but tastefully decorated with woodwork finishes throughout. This all adds to keep the warmth, especially during the winter months but also a freshness. We want the experience to be a home away from home.

Day 2

Wake up with fresh Darjeeling tea, and traditional Sherpa breakfast.

After breakfast, we start our day sightseeing. On our list are some of the oldest monuments and significant historical places of the area.

At the end of the day, we venture to the highest point in Darjeeling Tiger Hill, for a cup of famous Darjeeling tea and a sunset that will last in your memories for years to come. The view of Mount Kanchenjunga, the 3rd highest mountain in the world, and the entire range before you. (The sunset tea concept was introduced by Mr. Dawa Sherpa after many years of observing the local area where most people crowd for sunrise – this experience is unique)

Day 3

A big day ahead, after breakfast we drive to Dhotray, or Chitray, two (2), an hour drive from our homestay. From here we start hiking, our professional trekking guide will take you up slowly through forests continuing into the sub-alpine and alpine zone, till we reach a height of 3000m. Here the air is thinner and at times it is hard to breathe but, the view is magnificent!

We stay overnight at a local lodge (camping optional and can be arranged), where all your pains and tiredness will fall away over a cup of tea, a warm fire, good company, and the day just shared.

As mentioned camping can be arranged Blue Dragon has high altitude tents, sleeping bags, and comfortable mattresses. If you want to continue the homestay experience this can also be accommodated. Depending on the weather conditions, sunset and sunrise from our overnight point are a must and worth the effort.

Day 4

An early start to witness the magnificent sunrise, where the mountains change colors as the day begins and the sun warms is in its golden orange glow.

After breakfast we head back to Darjeeling but this time in the comfort of our vehicle. It takes around three (3) hours winding back through small villages and forests and spectacular vistas. The afternoon is free to roam Darjeeling town. Overnight, Blue Dragon Homestay.

Day 5

After breakfast, we drive down through the tea gardens to the airport (a 3-hour drive via the Rohinee road). It is here that your Blue Dragon Adventure ends having made friends and memories for a lifetime.
