If you’re wanting to explore and experience the real Darjeeling then you should hit the trails and trek (walk) or hope on a mountain bike. Mountain biking is one of the fastest-growing adventure sports in the hills. If you have an average level of fitness then trekking or mountain biking the hills is something to consider and this itinerary is just for you.

Itinerary

Day 1

Members of the Blue Dragon staff will greet you at Bagdogra Airport. Darjeeling via Mirik, is a three (3), to Four (4) hour drive with time in Mirik for sightseeing.

After the long drive we overnight at Blue Dragon Homestay, situated at the foothills of Tiger Hill, at an altitude of 2,300m.

Our homestay offers you traditional Himalayan hospitality. All the rooms are simply but tastefully decorated with woodwork finishes throughout. During your stay, we aim to provide you with local cuisine and a real cultural experience.

Day 2

Wake up early to take in the fresh morning air for a short 3.5km hike to Tiger hill, taking around fifty (50) minutes.  After breakfast, head into the main town of Darjeeling for some local sightseeing.

In the evening back at the Homestay, we will have a group briefing, wherein consultation with the staff your cycle will be selected and fitted. It is important to have this done prior to the commencement of any ride, particularly long rides. This can help to avoid back and knee pain from incorrect posture. All our guides are certified and have ample experience in adventure activities in the mountains.

He will give you detail information about local cultures and high altitude.

Day 3

After breakfast, the adventure begins. Starting our ride to Dhotrey via Mane Bhanjang. This 48km cycle will take around 4/5 hours, taking us through the spectacular forests and countryside. Remember this is not a race but your holiday so we will take it easy stopping to make photo memories, tea breaks, and pit stops where needed.

We will have a backup vehicle with us which will carry our luggage, medical and repair kit, and lunch.

Most of the ride to Mane Bhanjang is downhill. From Mane Bhanjang to Dhotrey the road get a bit challenging and is a bit of a climb. Once you reach Dhotrey the view is magnificent. We have a choice of accommodation here either in a tent or homestay.

Dhotrey is a small settlement surrounded by forest and is gateway of Singalila National Park. Dhotrey has only twenty two (22), houses, a small Buddhist monastery, and a Lord Shiva Temple take the time to stretch the legs and take in this quiet and peaceful community.

Day 4

Wake up early morning for a short 5.5km walk East along the ridge to Tonglu. From here given good weather we can see the mountain in full view from the ‘Snow view point’ at an elevation of 3,070m. The view of Kanchenjunga is spectacular from here.

If Tonglu is too far then we can walk to view point at Dhotrey and enjoy the similar view of Mountains.

Ride back to Darjeeling after a hearty breakfast, which will take between three (3) to four (4), hours.

Day 5

Today after breakfast we will head down to airport via NH55. It is here that your Blue Dragon Adventure ends having made friends and memories for a lifetime.

It is here that your dream holiday comes to a close. The dreams made with your family can continue by sharing them with your extended families, offering them a glimpse of what is possible if you dram to venture to the Queen of the Hills, with Blue Dragon Adventure and Travel, Darjeeling.
